Commissioning Coordinator
Location: Onshore, Qatar (Office based - some travel to offshore)
Industry: Oil & Gas
Employment Type: Contract until June 2026
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Coordinator to oversee the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of high-profile oil and gas projects. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the company on offshore and onshore facilities, overseeing all project-related pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and manage work permits, ensuring full compliance with permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
- Coordinate with HSEQ teams to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures during all commissioning activities.
- Attend daily meetings with asset holders to plan and report progress, highlighting any constraints.
- Liaise with contractors to manage personnel and material movements as per project schedules.
- Review, comment, and approve pre-commissioning and commissioning plans, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and project drawings.
- Inspect completed work for mechanical completion, identify and manage punch list items.
- Collaborate with construction teams to clear punch lists and witness pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks.
- Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders.
- Schedule and coordinate site acceptance tests, loop checks, and other commissioning verification activities.
- Develop detailed commissioning plans, breaking down activities into systems and subsystems for effective execution.
- Facilitate vendor presence at site(s) for commissioning support and training of operational teams.
- Support the training and development of junior engineers and local talent.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of corporate commissioning standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience: 10-12 years in construction, installation, and commissioning within the oil & gas industry.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience in FEED and EPIC projects, with the ability to review and approve contractor work.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering standards, quality control, HSEQ regulations, and industry best practices.
- Skilled in reviewing method statements, inspection and test plans, and construction schedules.
- Ability to identify potential bottlenecks and propose effective solutions.
- Proficient in supervising multi-national and multi-cultural contractor workforces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and multi-discipline engineering exposure.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and managerial skills.
- Strong analytical and IT skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Effective in stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination.
