Senior Project Engineer

Contract Term:

• Contract until January 2027

Qualifications:

• B.Sc. Degree in an Engineering discipline from a recognised University; higher degree would be advantageous.
• Membership in a recognised professional engineering and/or project management association/institution would be beneficial.

Experience:

• A minimum of 12 years relevant experience in engineering, project management, and execution of oil & gas projects.
• Extensive experience in managing and executing brownfield projects within the resource/petrochemical industry.
• Experience with pipeline and downstream fuel distribution projects; familiarity with CNG stations is an advantage.
• Knowledge of dense phase CO2 pipelines and process equipment; experience in mature field development and Water Alternating Gas (WAG) injection schemes is beneficial.
• Proven experience in managing brownfield petrochemical refinery projects.
• Experience managing projects independently as the client/owner representative, ideally with an International Oil Company (IOC).
• Experience coordinating engineering activities across multiple disciplines during feasibility studies, concept optimisation, FEED, and EPIC.

Key Competencies:

• Project Management: Skilled in managing engineering definition activities, detailed design, construction, operational readiness, commissioning, and start-up.
• Project Execution: Develop and implement strategies and plans, manage project interfaces, performance, risks, and change management (MOC).
• Schedule and Resource Management: Understanding of schedules, resource planning, cost control, budgeting, and developing WBS schedules.
• Procurement and Contracts: Manage equipment/material procurement, long lead items, contractor claims, and contract variations.
• HSE Risk Management: Identifying, managing, and mitigating project HSE risks throughout the lifecycle.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will take responsibility for leading and coordinating project teams to ensure projects are successfully executed from inception to completion:

1. Project Leadership & Coordination:
   • Lead and coordinate project teams to provide comprehensive project management services.
   • Oversee the execution of assigned projects, ensuring completion on time and within budget.

    

2. Project Planning & Execution:
   • Prepare, review, and implement Project Execution Plans, Risk Management Plans, Quality Assurance Plans, and HSE interface plans.
   • Participate in planning, cost control, budgeting, contract administration, progress reporting, change management, and gate approval activities.

    

3. Engineering & Design Management:
   • Manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to resolve technical and engineering issues in a cost-effective and timely manner.
   • Oversee the preparation of tender packages, manage the tendering process, evaluate submissions, and make recommendations.

    

4. Risk Management & Reporting:
   • Develop and maintain risk registers, ensuring risks are proactively managed and mitigated.
   • Coordinate the resolution of contractor claims and variations.

    

5. Stakeholder Engagement:
   • Interface closely with end users, government and statutory authorities, and third-party entities such as joint ventures (JVs).

    

6. Process Improvement & Mentorship:
   • Participate in the development and review of procedures and guidelines to enhance project delivery.
   • Assist and mentor Qatari engineers, supporting their professional development.
