Weight Control Engineer – Offshore Platforms / FPSO / Structural Engineering

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Weight Control Engineer to join a dynamic and fast-paced engineering team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in structural engineering and weight control for offshore platforms, FPSOs, and floating structures.

You will take ownership of weight control tasks within projects, ensuring accurate reporting, coordination across disciplines, and compliance with quality objectives. Working closely with engineering leads, vendors, and subcontractors, you will play a key role in delivering safe and efficient offshore structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement project-specific weight control procedures for all relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate and interface with disciplines, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with weight control requirements.
• Prepare and issue weight control reports, ensuring accuracy in weight estimation and centre of gravity calculations.
• Analyse and collate historical weight control data to support early conceptual and FEED phase weight estimations for offshore structures.
• Ensure correct correlation of weight, contingency, and coordinate reference basis across multiple stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, and fabricators.
• Maintain high quality standards in weight control processes and reporting.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum CGPA 3.3 or 2nd Class Upper (or equivalent).
• Strong English communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or weight control database tools.
• Experience in fixed offshore platform weight control, including:
  • Wellhead platforms
  • Modular platforms (Living Quarters, Compression, Utilities)
  • Integrated platforms
  • Floatover and lift-installed platforms
• Experience in floaters, including FPSO, FSO, FLNG, and module/hull integration.

Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)

• Familiarity with weight control and structural analysis tools, such as:
  • SACS
  • STAAD.Pro
• Knowledge of miscellaneous steel structural design.
