Experience:
- Basic computer skills - This is needed for mechanical trouble shooting programs.
- Minimum of 2 - 3 Years Mechanical Experience - Required to know the basic functionality of an engine and how to service to manufacturer specifications.
- Good communication skills - In order to provide good customer service and meet customer deadlines as well as keep operations informed of all equipment status.
- Operate Forklift & Overhead Crane - This is required to be able to move equipment to service equipment.
- Ability to Work with Minimal Supervision - After hour call requires technicians to perform service work and meet customer needs with minimal supervision.
- Reliable Transportation - On call requires technician to go on road jobs to customer site.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intermediate knowledge of the theory, principles and repairs relating to internal combustion engines, electrical circuits, and mechanical mechanisms applying to the repair of power generation equipment.
- Skilled in determining the overall mechanical condition of generators and equipment, diagnose component malfunction and initiates repair actions.
- Systematically analyzes malfunction by visual and auditory examination or the use of test equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to use diagnostic computer programs.
- Performs operational inspection and ensures equipment is properly serviced prior to renting.
- Has the ability and knowledge to perform repairs such as replacing engine heads, engine seals, various engine accessory components and can make engine overhead adjustments. Repairs, adjusts and replaces major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as generator ends, radiators, fuel system components and exhaust system items.
- Skilled in the use of technical manuals, wiring schematics, test equipment and well versed in the use of computers and all Cummins based diagnostic programs.
- Adheres to all established safety policies and standards.
- Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools, shop equipment to include forklifts, overhead lift cranes, welders, cutting and grinding tools and follows proper procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Has the knowledge to teach and lead level 1 and 2 technicians in the fundamentals of generator operations.
- Trouble shoot with customers over the phone as needed.
