Rotating Equipment Engineer
Location: Onshore Operations, Doha, Qatar
Department: Maintenance
Position Type: Full-time / Permanent
Job Purpose
The Rotating Equipment Engineer provides technical support for the safe operation and maintenance of rotating equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, and pumps, installed at company onshore facilities, RLTO, and the refinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Support and Troubleshooting:
- Analyze and guide the asset maintenance team on rotating equipment maintenance and troubleshooting activities for LNG plants. Prepare for blocker issues after critical equipment troubleshooting.
- Shutdown Planning and Execution:
- Plan and execute all rotating equipment major jobs, including gas & steam turbine and compressors during scheduled shutdowns. Coordinate with asset and shutdown planning teams to ensure materials, schedules, and pre-shutdown activities are aligned.
- Quality Control and Verification:
- Ensure quality control of all planned maintenance activities for gas turbines and compressors, including mechanical jobs and refurbishment activities at OEM workshops.
- Follow-Up and Coordination:
- Regularly follow up on gas turbine mechanical activities and coordinate with asset teams and GE CSA. Review and prepare all related documents, such as job cards, JSA, and quality checklists.
- Spares Management:
- Review the availability of spares for critical equipment and recommend missing spares to the materials team for stock creation and procurement. Raise EMOCs for system upgrades due to obsolescence.
- Engineering Change Management:
- Raise EMOCs for upgrades based on failure analysis, bad actor programs, and RCFA. Support the feasibility study of Management of Change.
- Failure Analysis and Risk Assessment:
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Risk Assessments, and HAZOP studies, providing necessary data for analysis.
- Training and Development:
- Provide technical training and coaching to mechanical technicians and Qatari National Developes for rotating equipment.
- Repair and Refurbishment Leadership:
- Lead the repair and refurbishment process for critical rotating equipment components such as rotors, DGS, and seal bearings. Coordinate with multiple department team members to ensure timely repairs.
- Contract and Innovation Support:
- Assist the Lead Engineer with contract preparation, road map implementation, and innovation initiatives.
Person Specification - Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry.
- Hands-on experience with rotating equipment overhauling and troubleshooting.
- Solid knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, and pump auxiliary systems.
- Familiar with national and international standards and specifications.
- Knowledge of SAP systems.
Technical Skills:
- Fluent in English, with demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in engineering software tools and computer literacy.
