At Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.
We are looking for a talented Thermal Systems Design Engineer within the Entry Into Service - Lifecycle Engineering section. In this role you will be responsible for the thermal characterization of hardware and management of dedicated cooling and leakage flows in aircraft engines.
The position requires knowledge in the fundamentals of heat transfer and compressible flows and knowledge of engine design and operation. Additionally, the role requires communicating processes, methods, analysis results and technical challenges to product team members.
You will have the opportunity to be involved into design activities for production support, redesign activities, design change, investigation for field issues and collaboration with other engineering section.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen technical expertise in aeronautical and thermofluidic disciplines
- Perform thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis in support of design/redesign and fielded components
- Participate throughout the design process to analyze and influence the thermal system design, perform trade studies to define and optimize system design within constraints
- Support design to achieve the objectives of performance, manufacturability, cost, and life
- Contribute to and present at Design Reviews in cooperation with Chief Engineers Office
- Proactively support activities with other Company departments to achieve project milestones
- Support System Engineering on investigations activities to understand root cause and final fixing of field issues adopting TOPS8D methodology when required.
- Support management and substantiation of Quality Notifications (i.e., how to manage non-conforming components) and Source Substantiation / Technology Validation activities
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
- Experience on Thermal System fundamental and good knowledge of FE analysis and CFD
- Good knowledge of fundamental mechanical and thermofluidic design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculation
- Strong engineering outlook, hands-on engineering foundation and eager to learn
- Clear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented
- Ability to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
- Willingness to directly interact with several internal and external customers
- Ability to work successfully in team environment
- Ability to prioritize work, and communicate openly in stressful situations
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required
