The Landfill Gas System Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the gas processing plant and landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collections systems and other related systems at TDS Landfill. The position is accountable for the ongoing monitoring of such systems, ensuring that all work adheres to safety regulations, as well as federal and state requirements.

The Landfill Gas System Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the gas processing plant and landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collections systems and other related systems at TDS Landfill. The position is accountable for the ongoing monitoring of such systems, ensuring that all work adheres to safety regulations, as well as federal and state requirements.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conducts, or assists with, environmental sampling that may include air quality and gas migration.
- Performs preventative maintenance and evaluation on components of the gas processing plant including the compressors, filters (Coalescent & Carbon), knock out pots, heat exchangers, etc.
- Measures and records gas measurements from the landfill well field and at the landfill gas probes to ensure the ongoing compliance with applicable safety regulations, as well as federal and state requirements.
- Troubleshoots and corrects landfill gas extraction systems when necessary; report more complicated issues to management to ensure timely correction.
- Installs gas extraction well pumps and performs necessary maintenance on the well pumps.
- Performs welding and installation of HDPE gas header and lateral piping to gas extraction wells.
- Completes vertical gas well installation including the PVC pipe, gravel, bentonite, and soils.
- Prepares and submits required reporting data relative to landfill gas extraction and other related systems.
- Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance;
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- At least 1 year of experience working at an OHSA regulated business.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices related to electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and instrumentation schematics.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, on-call, overtime and holidays, as needed.
- Ability to work outside during all weather conditions all year round and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year of experience working with landfill gas extraction and/or leachate systems.
- At least 1 year of experience working with natural gas processing facilities, natural gas well drilling, and/or natural gas well development.
- At least 2 years of experience working at construction sites or maintenance facilities regulated
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Class C Driver's License
- Safe driving record for the last three years
