Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the ELSP (Smart Power) business at our site in Bloomfield, CT. While displaying strong leadership skills in a team environment, the senior engineer should demonstrate experience in design, quality, safety, compliance, and new product implementation. The work model for the role is hybrid. #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division out of Bloomfield, CT. You will be mainly accountable for: • Responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business standards and program / product requirements. • Plan, execute, and report on the technical design, schedule, and test results of a program with guidance from senior engineering resources • Design, develop, analyze, and document product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements of the customer or market. • Demonstrate conformance to Product Technical Specifications and international standards using Design for Six Sigma and Design for Reliability methodologies. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures • Create and maintain technical documentation for all design work and present material for technical review including but not limited to tolerance loops, drawings, bill of materials, product cost, problem and action lists, risk management, and failure root cause analysis reviews. • Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts. • Prepare and maintain product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design and test documentation. • Arrange design reviews, analyze concepts, and cost effectiveness of the Mechanical/Electrical designs. • Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation. • Prepare and maintain product cost estimates and project plans.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar and minimum 5+ years engineering experience, including experience with product development of industrial and/or electrical products
  • Experience with product qualification, implementing products into production and delivering tough commitments in a team environment
  • Experience on thermal, stress, structural and short circuit analysis, using Creo as modeling tool
  • Background in Low Voltage Switchboards or similar, UL 891, UL 50 and NEC
  • Clear communication, strong collaborative skills across functions and within global teams
  • Track record of delivering products using a structured risk management and product development process
  • Experience with design software (Creo Preferred), PLM (Windchill preferred, Magnetic simulation and Thermal Simulation
  • Up to 10% domestic travel, international maybe but rare
