RESPONSIBILITIES

The Interconnection Engineer supports the development of utility-scale and DG renewable energy projects. Key responsibilities include:
  • Draft and submit pre-apps, screening studies, and full applications for selected sites and points of interconnection.
  • Create single-line diagrams, engineering drawings, and other engineering deliverables required by the utility for the interconnection process.
  • Collect, understand, and summarize detailed technical information regarding project size, expected output, electrical specifications, proposed major equipment (modules, inverter, and transformer), and other relevant areas.
  • Confirm that the proposed technical parameters of projects are compatible with local line voltages, protection requirements, interconnecting utility standards, and industry best-practices.
  • Evaluate and summarize pre-app and interconnection study results for feasibility, reasonableness, cost, and timeline.
  • Collaborate and work with broader development teams to ensure project success. This includes sharing clear recommendations on interconnection strategies and takeaways on utility study results with senior executives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other relevant engineering discipline. Advanced degrees welcome.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in renewable energy project distribution-level interconnection activities.
  • Firm understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, three-phase Power systems, and protection principles for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment.
  • Detailed understanding of the technical materials typically required by the utility for the interconnection process.
  • Expertise in analyzing and interpreting interconnection study results and proactively resolving technical challenges.

Benefits

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is in the range of $75,000 to $100,000 a year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and SolRiver reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, SolRiver or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
