Position: Mechanical Specialist
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage workflow processes including Corrective Maintenance (CM), Preventative Maintenance (PM), and Minor Projects (PJs).
  • Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure risk assessment and implementation of recommended software or plant changes.
  • Track refurbishable spares processes, including tagging, repair, quality checks, logistics, and reinstallation.
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance procedures using OEM manuals, industry best practices, and standards such as ASME, API, IEEE, NETA, ASNT, ASTM, and FMEAs.
  • Create forms, checklists, and inspection sheets to support maintenance procedures.
  • Promote and develop a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company HSE requirements within the Mechanical department.
  • Prepare, implement, and review work packages, inspection and test plans, method statements, and execution plans.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance support and expertise to Mechanical Technicians.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve technical and system issues.
  • Recommend, design, and implement projects for plant improvement.
  • Assist in sourcing and requisitioning spare parts, tools, services, and related items for inspection and repairs.
  • Support the Maintenance Team Lead in identifying maintenance and shutdown priorities to minimize downtime.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:
  • B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma/MEEET in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the maintenance and operations of a plant or heavy plant industry as an engineer, with at least three (3) years at a supervisory level. OR
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in the maintenance and operations of a plant or heavy plant industry as a mechanical technician, with at least five (5) years at a supervisory level.
  • Expertise in maintenance, inspections, and reliability of static equipment (e.g., HRSG, vessels, tanks, piping, filters, heat exchangers).
  • Desirable field expertise in rotating machinery maintenance (e.g., pumps, steam and gas turbines).
  • Experience in preventive (TBM, FFM, CBM, PDM, RBM) and corrective maintenance (DCM, EM).
  • Ability to review and propose changes in maintenance procedures, short instructions, and checklists.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance and planning, process maps, and workflows in the industrial environment, preferably in the power generation sector (e.g., CCPPs).
  • Ability to identify areas for improvement in workflows and process maps related to maintenance activities.
  • Proficiency in writing maintenance procedures, short instructions, checklists, and forms.

Membership and Licenses:
  • Working knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, ASNT, CWI codes.
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods and techniques.
  • Familiarity with boiler inspection methods and techniques.
  • Structural experience (D11) and certification in inspection to assess the condition of static equipment regarding corrosion and material failure is an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Maximo.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of plant fundamentals, principles, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical-related international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, NFPA).
  • Technical skills with PC software, VISIO, CMMS-based systems (e.g., MAXIMO 7.6.1.2 or higher), and technical writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Effective analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify root causes and reach logical resolutions.
  • Ability to establish and prioritize tasks and objectives to manage time, resources, and risks appropriately.
  • Practical-minded with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to anticipate future changes or challenges and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company.
