Weatherford is seeking a skilled R&M Engineer to join our Wireline department. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, qualification, repair, and maintenance of field tools specific to Wireline operations. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, retrofitting, and upgrading electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, Wireline data acquisition systems, downhole tools, and communication equipment. You will collaborate closely with Wireline operations teams, adhering to company guidelines, technical work instructions, test procedures, schematics, engineering notices, and best practices to deliver high-quality support for field readiness and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with company policies, management systems, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices within the Wireline department.
- Place quality, health, safety, security, and environmental protection as core values, never intentionally placing employees, processes, customers, or communities at risk, especially in high-risk Wireline tool handling environments.
- Seek continuous improvement in health, safety, security, and environmental protection, considering responsible care, process vulnerabilities, public, customer, and employee inputs, knowledge, technology, and best business practices related to Wireline activities.
- Maintain service quality as an immediate priority, continually seeking areas for improvement in Wireline tool readiness and performance.
- Inspect, test, qualify, repair, and maintain field tools, with a strong focus on Wireline-related equipment, including mechanical and electronic downhole systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, retrofitting, and upgrading of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, Wireline data acquisition systems, downhole tools, and communication equipment used in Wireline interventions.
- Follow company guidelines, technical work instructions, test procedures, schematics, engineering notices, and best practices specific to Wireline repair and maintenance (R&M).
Skills:
- Strong foundation in Basic Mathematics
- Experience working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements & explosives; awareness of NDT, NDE, and ATEX policies & principles—key for safe Wireline operations
- For senior roles: ability to diagnose issues and problems with Wireline tools and electronic systems
- Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and monitoring of Wireline equipment and systems
- Critical thinking, active learning & listening, and complex problem-solving specific to Wireline service challenges
- Excellent reading and writing skills, strong judgment, and decision-making aligned with policies and procedures
- Effective time management, especially when supporting active Wireline jobs or tool turnaround
- Quality Control Analysis to ensure Wireline tools meet required service standards
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of Wireline tool handling and R&M tasks
- Strong ability in information & task ordering, with an eye for identifying and resolving issues in complex Wireline tool assemblies
- Ability to operate tools and machinery effectively, with focus on Wireline shop equipment
- Spatial awareness to visualize tools and products for assembly, repair, or modifications, particularly with Wireline tool strings and adaptors
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Repair & Maintenance within the Wireline department
- Familiarity with Wireline operations, tool maintenance cycles, and shop workflows is essential
