Job Title: QA/QC Inspector (Mechanical)
Location: Qatar (Site-Based)
Contract Duration: Until February 2027

Role Overview:
The QA/QC Inspector (Mechanical) will ensure the quality of mechanical construction activities on site, focusing on inspections, testing, and compliance with project specifications and quality control standards. This role requires a highly skilled professional with a strong background in mechanical systems, welding inspections, piping systems, and experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement Quality Control Procedures: Ensure that construction activities, inspections, and testing comply with project specifications, Quality Plans, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and contract requirements.
- Inspection & Testing: Supervise and witness inspections and tests for mechanical systems, including welding, NDT, hydro testing, and painting. Ensure that all inspections are documented and meet project requirements.
- Review Contractor Documentation: Assist in the review and approval of contractor QA/QC documents (e.g., QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, and material testing reports).
- Monitor Compliance: Ensure the calibration of measuring equipment and that inspection records are properly maintained.
- Identify Non-Conformities: Conduct surveillance on construction activities to identify potential non-conformities, propose corrective actions, and ensure compliance with project quality standards.
- Coordinate Inspections: Attend inspection, testing, and punch listing meetings with contractors, ensuring all activities are completed in line with project timelines.
- Monitor Fabrication & Installation: Oversee the fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing of mechanical systems, including Structural Steel, Piping, Pipelines, Rotating Equipment, and Static Equipment.
- Verify Material Compliance: Assist in the receiving inspection of materials, ensuring all materials meet project requirements and traceability is maintained.
- Manage Non-Conformance: Identify trends in non-compliance and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), working with contractors to close out non-conformances.
- Perform Quality Audits: Assist the Sr. QA/QC Engineer in conducting quality audits for contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, and third-party laboratories.
- Ensure Corrective Actions: Follow up on corrective actions to close out non-conformances and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Liaise with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with contractors, third-party inspectors, and other project personnel to ensure the smooth execution of inspections and tests.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Certifications: BGAS Grade-II or III, NACE Level-I or II (Cathodic Protection), CSWIP 3.2, AWS-SCWI Sr. Welding Inspector, ASNT NDT Level-II. Other equivalent internationally recognized certifications are accepted.
- ISO-9001 Auditing Certification (preferred).
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years' experience for degree holders, and 15 years' experience for diploma holders in QA/QC inspection for infrastructure projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in construction inspection in a similar position, preferably as a client QA/QC inspector.
- Hands-on experience with CRA Clad/Lined Pipeline, welding inspection, FRP piping systems, HVAC, firefighting, and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, NACE, API, AWS D1.1, and NFPA.
- Previous experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of mechanical systems, welding inspections, NDT, hydro testing, and materials testing.
- Quality Control Expertise: In-depth understanding of QC procedures, inspection methodologies, and quality management systems.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify non-conformities, propose corrective actions, and resolve issues efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately monitor and report on project activities, inspections, and non-conformities.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to coordinate with contractors, project teams, and third-party inspectors.
