JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

• Execution of the arrangements for controlling, witnessing, recording and assessing the results of all initial energisation and 'set to work' tests which may affect safety to liaise with the Construction Team Leaders to ensure smooth hand over of systems / areas

• Identification of resource requirements

• Workload prioritisation

• Ensuring that team members fully understand their responsibilities

• Delivering the completions work scope to an agreed strategy and plan in a timely and cost effective manner

• Ensuring a proactive and balanced approach to safety (conventional and environmental) to ensure that safety is optimised during completions activities

• Reviewing completions progress and performance and taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary

• Planning, balancing and prioritizing completions resources to support successful project delivery

• Managing day to day liaison with personnel to obtain any necessary permissions and minimize impact to the project

• Review of completions test results

• Ensuring input to other project processes are incorporated eg. design, HAZOP, risk, contract, estimating and knowledge management

• Leading and coaching the team to maximise their efficiency and effectiveness

• Reporting completions progress

• Ensuring the completions activities are performed in accordance with the approved testing and completions / commissioning programme

• Ensuring test definition adequately tests the functional configuration and performance requirements of the plant and equipment

• Appointment of completions team members

• Assessment of completions team member's competence

• Discharging all Completions Management Intelligent Customer

HSSE Responsibilities:
  • Provide positive leadership on HSSE issues within your area of operation and for the members of your work team for which you are responsible
  • Take care of your own health, security and safety whilst at work, ensure your activities do not adversely affect the health, security and safety of others or damage the environment
  • Promote a positive attitude in the workforce and encourage behaviours that protect both people and the environment
  • Co-operate with the company in all matters of health, safety, security and environmental protection and make your contribution to reducing accidents and conserving natural resources
  • Ensure you have been fully briefed on, and have a good understanding of, the task at hand. Always work in accordance with the instructions given and any written HSSE risk assessments / method statements
  • Report any conflict
  • Never deviate from an agreed method of working unless the supervisor or relevant manager has been notified and authorisation has been obtained
  • Ensure that you have and use the correct access, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment for the work
  • Never undertake hazardous operations nor operate any items of plant or equipment unless trained and authorized to do so
  • Report to immediate supervisor any defects in plant or equipment or unsafe methods of work and ensure that plant, equipment and premises are left in a safe and secure state and place when unattended. Do not operate any item of plant or equipment that has become defective
  • Report to your immediate supervisor all potential hazards and incidents that have or could have resulted in personal injury or environmental damage
  • Report any work-related personal injury or disease to your immediate supervisor and ensure that an entry is made in the accident book at your place of work
  • If you are asked to undertake a task that you feel is unsafe or for which you feel you do not have the appropriate knowledge or training, stop the task and report to your immediate supervisor
  • If you see an unsafe act or condition, and it is safe to do so, intervene and stop the activity and explain the hazard
  • Organise work to be carried out in accordance with relevant HSSE risk assessments / method statements / work instructions / procedures
  • Monitor personnel under your control to ensure they comply with their individual responsibilities in HSSE matters
  • Give personnel under your control clear instructions about the required methods of work
  • Ensure that all relevant personnel are involved in HSSE risk assessments prior to any work activity commencing and, where appropriate, that method statements are available, understood and that any identified control measures are implemented
  • Where appropriate assess and implement any additional HSSE controls required to address the needs of new employees, young persons, non-native speaking workers, disabled persons, pregnant women etc
  • Monitor that risk assessments / method statements accurately reflect the HSSE hazards present and ensure that any required changes are agreed and implemented in accordance with the arrangements for control of changes to planned methods of work
  • Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for two-way communication and where appropriate deliver toolbox talks to the work teams
  • Identify HSSE training requirements of personnel under your control and advise appropriate management
  • See that accidents and incidents are reported immediately to the relevant manager
  • Ensure that personal protective clothing and equipment is used where identified as required and is properly maintained and stored
  • Ensure that only authorised persons operate plant and equipment

Influence:
  • High in the provision of technical expertise and support of functions
  • High, regarding the direction of commissioning personnel in the safe execution of commissioning workscope
  • Accountable for decision making applicable to the execution of workscope in a safe and effective manner and therefore must have the ability to influence and direct Senior management, Peers and Teams
  • Excellent levels of communication skill required

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Completions Engineer, reporting to the Completions or Commissioning Manager, carries out a managerial role to lead a Completions Team in the delivery of assigned commissioning projects in a safe and effective manner

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:
  • Minimum ONC (or equivalent) in Engineering related background
  • HNC (or equivalent) in appropriate Engineering related subject an advantage
  • Company Mandatory Training (Induction)
  • IT Literate (Excel I Word I PowerPoint etc.)
  • HUB2 Training
  • GoCompletions Training
  • PTW experience


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience in a Completions role, with a proven background in safety
  • Conversant with the completions process and associated completions management software
  • Experienced in the production of procedures and reports
  • Experienced in the supervision / training of personnel and team working
  • Good knowledge of projects and HSEQ safe working practices / procedures
