Are you ready to start your career in the field with a global leader in oil and gas equipment? This Trainee Field Service Engineer role at NOV Angola is your gateway to becoming a skilled Field Service professional through structured training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

As a Trainee Field Service Engineer within NOV's Rig Aftermarket (RA) team, you will begin your journey by learning how to inspect, maintain, and repair NOV equipment both offshore and onshore. Through our comprehensive training program and close mentorship from experienced NOV engineers, you will gradually take on more responsibilities as your knowledge and skills develop.

While prior experience in the heavy engineering industry-especially with maintenance and servicing of large machinery-is advantageous, it is not required. This is an entry-level position where you will be supported every step of the way as you work toward achieving professional milestones and progressing your career.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Service, repair, overhaul, inspect and identify faults on NOV Rig Equipment on a global basis.
  • Report and update relevant documentation including daily reports, survey reports, parts lists and service reports.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings/schematics to identify and correct faults, redline drawings/schematics.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, quality and HSE personnel to resolve problems with NOV equipment and recommend measures to improve the operation and condition of the equipment.
  • Travel when required on an ad-hoc basis as and when dictated by business/customer need.


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Time served Engineer.
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) in a relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical, Automation, Mechatronics etc.) or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of installation, commissioning, overhaul, fault finding and repair of heavy machinery in an automation field.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge within a similar position either offshore or in an automation field.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/schematics.
  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems is beneficial.
