Job Title: Lifting Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Lifting Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background and at least 5 years of proven experience in planning complex lifting activities within the Oil & Gas industry. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of lifting equipment, crane types, and side-boom operations, and will be responsible for preparing lifting plans, ensuring safety protocols, and overseeing lifting operations in major projects and shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities

Lifting Plan Preparation: Develop and submit comprehensive lifting plans using AutoCAD, including all relevant documentation for client approval according to company lifting procedures.

Safety Promotion: Enforce safe handling and lifting operations by referring to company HSE policies and international lifting standards.

Equipment Verification: Review the scope of work and verify lifting equipment requirements to ensure they align with project needs.

Systematic Approach: Maintain a structured and methodological approach to lifting operations, ensuring efficiency and safety.

Site Surveys: Perform site surveys as part of work packs to verify lift classifications and crane assessments, including developing lifting studies, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements.

Lifting Equipment Compliance: Ensure lifting equipment used in operations meets the necessary capacity for safe execution.

Team Coaching and Training: Mentor and coach rigging supervisors, rigging foremen, and riggers, promoting safe lifting practices.

Audits and Incident Investigation: Conduct internal audits of lifting operations, investigate lifting incidents, and analyze them for continuous improvement.

Leadership: Lead on-site lifting teams to ensure lifting operations are performed safely, addressing all hazards and implementing appropriate controls.

Equipment Certification: Ensure lifting equipment and appliances have valid third-party certifications and adhere to color coding systems as per current regulations.

Execution Supervision: Oversee that all lifting activities are carried out safely and competently according to the approved lifting plan.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years of proven experience in planning complex lifting activities, specifically in the Oil & Gas industry.

Member of LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) or a similar recognized institution.

Proficient knowledge of various crane types and side boom lifting equipment.

Extensive experience working on major projects and shutdowns.

Expertise in AutoCAD for developing lifting plans for both critical and non-routine lifts.

Strong communication skills for effective coordination with teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Deep understanding of rigging principles and best practices for safe lifting operations.
