This Position reports to:
Manager, Project Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to join our team at ABB Marine & Ports division in Vuosaari, Helsinki. In this position, you will be responsible for technical leadership, customer collaboration, and engineering planning for customer projects, with a specific focus on the engineering of electrical propulsion systems. This role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for professional growth within the global marine industry.

Your responsibilities

• Leading technical coordination and planning activities to ensure successful project execution and delivery
• Building strong relationships with customers, shipyards, partners, and subcontractors to fully understand and address project requirements
• Collaborating actively in technical discussions, clarifications, and negotiations with external stakeholders
• Supporting project engineers in problem-solving and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle
• Preparing and supervising comprehensive functional and acceptance tests for electrical propulsion equipment
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for project execution models, engineering processes, and customer interaction practices

Your background

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (M.Sc.) or equivalent
• Strong expertise in industrial electrical systems, including generators, motors, drives, and switchboards
• Proven experience in technical project planning, scheduling, and customer-facing roles
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multicultural project teams while demonstrating independent decision-making capabilities
• Structured and proactive approach to problem-solving and task prioritization
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
