JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering Tech II, Power System will provide technicalassistance to EPB's GSA 1 and residential customers by serving as the primarytechnical point of contact for issues related to their electric service.Analyzes customers' utility usage and energy efficiency and suggestsalternative rates when applicable. The Engineering Technician II willcoordinate as necessary with various departments within EPB to provide the bestpossible service and quick resolution of customer issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Support EPB's customers with technical expertise ininvestigating and resolving electric service issues.
-Support EPB customers by providing information and servicesfor EPB's incentive-based programs for builders, developers, and customers,including home inspections and energy ratings.
-Use various technical equipment to investigate and resolvecustomer electric service complaints, including meters, instruments, andelectrical testing equipment.
-Coordinate responses to customer questions and concerns,create customer-specific action plans, and develop specific recommendations toimprove customer satisfaction.
-Coordinate with various departments within EPB andComprehensive Services to quickly resolve customer issues.
-Seek to promote new and existing products and services inthe customers' best interest.
-Provide customer information to anticipate and identifycustomer billing, rates and pricing, power quality, or other operational needs.
-Respond to customer requests and issues efficiently andwith a sense of urgency.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-An Associate degree in a technical field with five years ofutility or related experience and/or training is required or otherwise approvedby management. HERS Certification is required.
-Mechanical aptitude, decision-making, oral and writtencommunication skills to facilitate excellent customer service, flexibility, andteam-working skills are required.
-Proficient use of business software including MicrosoftOffice 2002 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), EPB software, andcomputer-assisted design (CAD) software
-Working knowledge of various meters, instruments, andelectrical testing equipment, along with energy efficiency testing equipmentcertifications. If not certified, must pass certification testing within sixmonths of accepting the job.
-Understanding or the ability to quickly learn EPB businessactivities, including billing, rates, contracts, etc.
CERTIFICATION(S) AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
-A valid driver's license and demonstrate the safe andresponsible operation of motor vehicles. Must operate motor vehicles duringnormal working hours to perform various assigned tasks.
