Position: Associate Process Engineer

Location: Iraq. 28/28 Rotation

Job Purpose

The Junior Process Engineer will be responsible for developing the basic process engineering aspects and process design activities for projects at different stages, including Conceptual Studies, Front-End Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering design for any oil and gas field projects, including upstream offshore/onshore, oil and gas treating and downstream processing, environmentally sustainable developments, either greenfield or brownfield. This role involves working as part of a team of engineers to ensure the successful execution of the projects ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Job Responsibilities
  • To develop process simulations under supervision of senior process engineers for selection / appraisal stage of projects. To prepare process flow schemes with heat and mass balances required for supporting equipment and instruments design.
  • To support senior process engineers in the development of process basis of design and process philosophies.
  • To perform detailed process engineering work and calculations under supervision of senior process engineers, and generate deliverables including process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, equipment datasheets, process lists and summaries, etc. during all design phases.
  • To develop knowledge and interpretation of international standards.
  • To review any process design work carried out by third parties (Vendors) and other offices.
  • To participate in safety reviews as HAZID, HAZOPs, SIL, etc. to develop knowledge related with facilities safety requirements.
  • To actively and constantly improve their personal knowledge about deliverables, systems, calculations, applicable standards and guidelines to foster own technical growth.
  • To understand the requirements of the office quality and safety systems and ensure these requirements are met.
  • To collaborate with other disciplines and contribute meeting overall project delivery on time in an efficient and safe way.

Functional Responsibilities
  • Maintain process engineering standards and best practices.
  • Work with timely delivery of process engineering deliverables in accordance with project schedules.
  • Support procurement activities by providing technical input for equipment selection and vendor evaluation.

Technical Skills
  • Strong undergraduate engineering knowledge of physico-chemical behavior of pure/mixed hydrocarbons and unit operations in chemical engineering.
  • Basic experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS).
  • Basic knowledge of process safety management and hazard analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of process design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
  • Adaptability to change project requirements and priorities.

Qualifications
  • Mandatory: Bachelor degree or higher in engineering (Chemical, Process, or related field).
  • GPA equal or higher than 3.
