This Position reports to:
Senior Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will be working as senior consultant to lead engagements across process industries (Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Power/Utilities, Refining & Petrochemicals) and allied sectors. You'll operate as a trusted advisor to asset owners, EPCs, and OEMs, shaping strategy and delivering hands‑on outcomes from concept through operations.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation business for Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, Pune or Chennai India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Identify and develop business opportunities and contribute to the company's strategic growth through client relationship management and proposal development.
  • Plan and facilitate hazard studies (HAZOP/LOPA), set SIL targets, develop Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS), and conduct Functional Safety Assessments (FSA).
  • Define and own SRS deliverables: develop/peer‑review Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) and traceability to Basis of Design, C&E, and operating modes; ensure completeness per IEC 61511.
  • Author Safety FDS and related design documents ensuring end‑to‑end traceability from hazards/LOPA through SIS architecture and testing.
  • Plan and execute Functional Safety Assessments (FSA/Audits) across the lifecycle (stages 1-5), produce observations, and drive closure with project teams and certifiers.
  • Plan and lead Cyber-PHA studies based on a SIS (Safety Instrumented System) cybersecurity risk assessment procedure/methodologies in line with the ISA-TR84.
  • Interface with third‑party certifying bodies (e.g., TÜV, DNV) for independent reviews, evidence packs, and compliance statements as required by project contracts.
  • Coach project teams and client stakeholders on SIS lifecycle governance, proof‑testing, bypass management, and cyber controls; contribute to proposals and pre‑sales workshops.


Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's (or higher) in Engineering-Instrumentation, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, or related.
  • 10+ years in consulting roles delivering functional safety and/or industrial cybersecurity services for asset owners, EPCs, or specialist consulting firms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LOPA facilitation, SIL determination and verification, and SRS development; hands‑on exposure to SIS design reviews, test specifications (IAT/FAT/SAT), and commissioning support.
  • Alarm Management related skills like alarm rationalization expertise.
  • Certifications: TÜV Functional Safety Engineer/Professional (or equivalent) and at least one cyber risk assessment / IEC 62443 credential
  • Strong client‑facing consulting skills: executive communication, workshop facilitation, report writing, and stakeholder management.
  • Expertise in developing technical proposals, with a proven ability to translate client needs into innovative and cost-effective solutions, delivering high-quality technical outcomes within reasonable budget constraints.


Preferred/Bonus Experience


  • QRA and other technical safety studies
  • High Fidelity Simulator skills / experience would be an added advantage
  • Conducting FSA Stage 1-5 as independent assessor; closing observations and issuing compliance statements.
  • Familiarity with industry tools and vendor platforms (e.g., exSILentia for SIL verification; common DCS/SIS and F&G platforms).
  • Exposure to AC800M HI / 800xA High Integrity or equivalent SIS platforms; Fire & Gas (FGS) lifecycle deliverables.
  • Experience working with classification bodies and marine/offshore standards (e.g., DNV).
  • Familiarity with a safety-oriented cybersecurity risk assessment methodology that extends traditional PHA/HAZOP methodologies into the cybersecurity domain in line with IEC 62443.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards such as ATEX, DSEAR, API, or other relevant safety standards would be an advantage.
  • Marketing experience to promote technical services to potential clients. Experience in developing marketing materials, client outreach, or business development efforts will be an advantage.
