Overall Objective: Expert in L+G Gas Meter Design, Calibration and Operation

Key Performance Indicators:
• The design of the gas meter is optimized to maintain lifetime accuracy.
• The manufacture and calibration of the gas meters are optimized for performance and accuracy.
• Adherence of project schedules.
• Successful performance of design.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks:
• Provide technical support for the hardware and mechanical design teams to optimize the gas meter designs. Ensuring the designs are cost effective while meeting the requirements for accuracy and pressure loss over the working life.
• Provide technical support for the management of the meter calibration process including the operational support of the calibration standards and equipment. Maintaining procedures for the calibration processes and supporting the equipment selection choices.
• Provide technical support to the software development teams to ensure the meter's software is fully matched to the physical operation of the gas meter. Ensuring that the software supports calibration and meets the accuracy requirements.
• Represent the company with the statutary authorities with regards to the required standards of gas meters for US and international markets.
• Support for customer queries or complaints regarding meter measurement performance and standards.
• Support the gas meter manufacturing process management to optimize the meter calibration and testing.
• Be responsible for continous improvement to processes and procedures related to meter calbiration.
• Responsible for the adherence of Landis+Gyr's End User IT Security policy and Baseline IT Security policy. Report any IT related security incidents as outlined in the appropriate IT Security policy.
• Comply with all EH&S legislation and company procedures
Competencies:
• Physics - fluid dynamics
• Physics - Accoustics (ultrasonic operation)
• Physics - Electronics
• Microsoft tools (Win XP, all office tools)
• IT & Computer infrastructure (Test environment)
• Testing (define cases, create documents, execution)
• Documentation, report writing, test specification
• Lab equipment
Authority Levels:
• High level of technical knowledge to support the management team in strategic decisions. No direct reports.
Professional experience:
• Experience of working with flow measurement.
• Experience of product development for high volume manufacture.
• Understanding of Product Development Processes.
Project experience:
• Achieved project targets in complex projects.
Intercultural experience:
• Experience within a multi-national/cultural environment
Person Specification / Qualifications:
• Required: Engineering degree or equivalent in Electronic engineering, Physics, Computer Science or similar
• Minimum 5 years experience in natural gas or similar flow measurement
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to take ownership of all project aspects while demonstrating good decision-making skills.
• A confident person who can easily make technical presentations to other teams and departments within the company. Equally able to liase with regulatory authories.
• Willing to travel internationally
