Wood is currently seeking expressions of interest from client-focused CFD professionals for the position of Principal Engineer based in our Houston office.
The Principal CFD Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for a team of CFD modelers in the Americas region and contribute to growth by winning new work and clients. This includes ensuring adherence to best practices, engineering standards, and delivering on growth opportunities. Responsibilities also include managing CFD modelling projects, including budgets, schedules, and deliverables while coordinating with other Wood engineering groups, functions, and managers.
Success in this role requires a strong background in physics-based modelling, particularly in fluid dynamics and transport phenomena, and a broad interest in applying these skills to equipment troubleshooting and product development. Strong business development and client engagement skills are also required.
Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future is required.

Expected:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with relevant thesis work
Demonstrated experience with:
- Developing and applying models in areas such as multiphase modelling, granular flow, or combustion within fluid mechanics and transport.
- Computational languages: Transport modelling on platforms such as STAR-CCM, Ansys CFX or OpenFOAM, MatLab, Python, C/C++
- High performance computing.
Required Attributes and Experience:
- Strong ability to develop practical solutions for complex flow problems and demonstrate the value of solutions to stakeholders.
- Understanding of oil & gas and petrochemical processes and equipment.
- Proven track record of completing complex engineering studies on schedule and budget.
- Experience working with both large-scale enterprises and mid-market operators in oil & gas or petrochemicals sectors preferred.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships.
- Empathy and positivity with a genuine interest in understanding and addressing client needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel for effective communication.
