This Engineer In Shop (EIS) role is to be based full time at GE Aerospace Hermosillo to provide design engineering support to the site, ensuring that the produced hardware meets design intent and is safe.
The EIS will act as an integrator between the design hardware owners, quality/manufacture engineers and technicians leading them to work as one team on root cause investigations of quality/producibility issues and to implement corrective actions to ensure quality, on time delivery and cost reduction. Also will provide guidance to hardware owners about the manufacture processes of the parts including their inspection methods, drawing and specification interpretation, supporting them to perform Priority Parts Reviews, gathering information to substantiate changes in design, significant processes and to evaluate nonconforming parts. Furthermore, will support to quality organization to make sure that the manufacture processes run according to standard procedures.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- To represent to engineering organization at a manufacture shop assuring that the produced hardware meets design intent, safety and quality standards.
- To build partnership between the shop, hardware owners and quality organization to improve part producibility, reduce losses and scrap rates.
- To understand the manufacture processes of the hardware and provide guidance to hardware owners about it, including sharing ideas for producibility improvement and cost reduction.
- To provide guidance/mentoring to the shop about drawing/specifications interpretation, engineering procedures required to report nonconforming hardware, Significant Process Substantiation (SPS) and to execute Changes in Design (CID).
- To develop networking with supply chain, quality, and engineering organizations with the purpose of identifying experts that can aid the shop to solve producibility/quality issues and noncompliant process.
- To inform to hardware owners about new or unusual manufacturing conditions and process changes.
- To support field investigations involving manufacturing, Priority Part Reviews (PPR), SPS/SPR processes.
- To evaluate nonconforming hardware and quality escape events.
- To support the shop to implement CIDs, containment/corrective actions for quality escape events prevention and for elimination of rework operations.
- To gather information required by hardware owners to evaluate nonconformances, substantiate significant processes and to substantiate CIDs.
- To inform hardware owners about shop delivery priorities or delivery risks that depend on engineering response.
Required Qualifications
- AVAILABILITY FOR FULL TIME RELOCATION TO HERMOSILLO SONORA.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering
- Experience as lead design engineer in aeronautical industry and/or experience and/or experience as manufacture/quality engineer in a aeronautical industry shop.
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Experience on evaluating nonconformances and executing changes in design.
- Able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
- Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions
- Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives
