As an HSE Specialist II at NOV's Conroe facility, you will play a critical role in supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving the site's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. This includes ensuring compliance with NOV standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct training, investigate incidents, and actively promote a culture of safety. This role combines both administrative and field responsibilities and is well suited for an experienced HSE professional with strong operational awareness and a proactive mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with NOV HSE policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, TCEQ)
Conduct new hire HSE orientations and lead safety training for employees and contractors
Perform routine inspections, audits, and behavior-based safety observations; track and verify corrective actions
Lead or assist in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up on corrective actions
Maintain accurate HSE records, including incident reports, OSHA logs, near-miss tracking, and spill records
Collaborate with operations to develop risk assessments (JSA/JHA), safe work practices, and emergency response plans
Monitor chemical use, hazardous materials handling, and waste disposal to support environmental compliance
Act as a point of contact for HSE concerns from employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies
Support internal audits, corporate reviews, and HSE Tier assessments
Participate in HSE committee meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 3 years of relevant HSE experience in a manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial environment
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental health and safety regulations
Hands-on experience with incident investigations, inspections, and corrective action tracking
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and influence others
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Willingness to work in field/shop environments and respond to off-hours incidents when needed
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
HSE certifications such as GSP, ASP, CHST, STS, or OSHA 30
Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement programs
Working Conditions
Based onsite at NOV's Conroe manufacturing facility.
Occasional travel to other NOV locations for training or audits. (less than 5%)
Required presence on the shop floor, with extended periods of walking and standing
May involve lifting materials up to 25 lbs and wearing PPE in designated areas
Occasional after-hours support may be required for incident response or audit activity
