Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - LNG Maintenance Projects

Location: Muscat, Oman (with visits to Sohar)

Assignment Type: Resident, 5 days/week

Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Overview:

A leading international energy company is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the maintenance and inspection team for a major LNG bunkering development project in Oman. This position plays a key role in delivering best-in-class mechanical support to ensure operational reliability and performance across both project and operational phases.

Key Responsibilities

Project Phase:

• Oversee maintenance and inspection engineering (MIE) activities for rotating/static equipment and lifting systems
• Develop and validate maintenance plans for mechanical systems
• Contribute to pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup planning
• Prepare scopes of work and support tendering for mechanical maintenance contracts
• Ensure MIE deliverables comply with regulations and best practices
• Participate in design reviews, spare part strategies, and tooling requirements
• Work closely with digital tool teams to support predictive maintenance (CBM) deployment
• Review engineering documents for use by operations and maintenance personnel
• Set up asset readiness including CMIMS population, spares cataloguing, and vendor support
• Define technical training requirements and mentor junior staff

Operational Phase:

• Act as the technical authority for mechanical equipment during plant operations
• Lead execution of preventive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance
• Manage mechanical maintenance contractors and track performance against KPIs
• Define and implement long-term maintenance strategies and obsolescence planning
• Monitor compliance with Safety Critical Elements (SECE) and regulatory frameworks
• Drive improvements in plant availability, reliability, and cost optimisation
• Support internal audits and contribute to HSE leadership in maintenance

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Engineering Degree (or Master's) in Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within LNG or Oil & Gas sector
• 5+ years in field operations, 3+ years in a supervisory role
• Strong experience with CMIMS systems (SAP MM/PM preferred)
• Proven record in resource planning, vendor coordination, and cost control
• Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
