Job Title: Welding NDT Inspector - QAC05

Location: Sohar, Oman (with potential global travel to vendor/contractor sites)

Work Schedule: Residential - 5 days/week

Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Start Date: ASAP

Job Summary

An international energy operator is looking for an experienced Welding NDT Inspector to oversee welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities during the construction and pre-commissioning phases of a major LNG project in Oman. This role is responsible for ensuring that all contractors and subcontractors meet strict quality, safety, and compliance standards across a wide range of welding and inspection activities.

Key Responsibilities

QA/QC & Inspection

  • Supervise NDT and welding inspection activities performed by contractors and subcontractors on site and, if needed, at vendor yards.
  • Review and validate NDT methodologies, procedures, maps, and documentation (RT, UT, MPI, PT).
  • Ensure contractor equipment (Gamma-ray, UT sets, MPI, etc.) is calibrated, stored, and operated per specification.
  • Monitor inspection plans, ensure timely availability of inspection reports, and endorse RT film reports if needed.
  • Track anomalies, follow up on corrective actions, and report any non-conformity to the Senior Welding/NDT Inspector.
  • Participate in random inspections, site walkthroughs, and daily construction meetings.

Technical Support

  • Assist the Senior Welding/NDT Inspector in supervising daily activities and implementing project QC methodologies.
  • Provide technical input for resolving quality and inspection-related queries.
  • Interface with project teams to resolve issues and ensure QC compliance.
  • Support HSE initiatives and ensure safe practices are enforced across welding and inspection scopes.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure documentation confidentiality and integrity.
  • Provide regular status updates and inspection reports.
  • Record and follow up on deviations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years in NDT/Welding Inspection
  • 5 years in a similar role on LNG construction projects

Certifications Required:

  • Valid NDT Level II: ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9712, or PCN in UT, RT, MT, PT
  • Valid Welding Inspector: CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI
  • Education: Technical engineering background preferred
  • Language: Fluent English (mandatory)
  • Software Skills: Word, Excel, Email
