Job Title: Fleet Operations Superintendent
Location: Qatar
Contract Type: Residential - Long-Term Assignment
Role Purpose
Coordinate the activities of an assigned group of LNG vessels within chartered fleet to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of LNG. This includes oversight of vessel operations, inspections, compliance, and cost controls, contributing to global LNG delivery commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet Operations: Monitor technical and marine activities affecting vessel availability and performance. Identify opportunities for operational and efficiency improvements.
- Inspection & Compliance: Oversee SIRE inspection results, assess criticality of findings, and ensure required corrective actions are implemented.
- Dry Dock & Maintenance Oversight: Attend major maintenance events and dry docks to verify Owner/Operator compliance with performance expectations.
- Cost Management: Support the development and tracking of vessel budgets under Cost Pass Through Agreements. Review and report variances.
- Tender and Contractual Input: Contribute to high-value tender preparation and technical evaluations. Support contract award recommendations in line with internal procedures.
- Vessel Vetting: Participate in annual inspections of LNG vessels calling at Ras Laffan terminals to ensure continued safety and reliability.
- Operator Assessments: Support qualification and auditing of current and prospective vessel operators, including participation in TMSA audits.
- Incident Response Support: Provide technical input in case of shipping or commercial incidents. Contribute to reviews and improvements of incident response plans.
- Reporting and Documentation: Ensure accurate reporting of vessel activities, inspections, and recommendations to Head of Fleet and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marine, Shipping, or related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 8 years' experience in oil/gas marine operations or LNG shipping.
- Strong working knowledge of LNG carrier operations (Conventional, Q-Flex, Q-Max), navigation principles, and vessel systems.
- Experience with LNG loading, marine terminal operations, and time charter management.
Technical Knowledge
- Proficient in vessel performance analysis and marine risk management.
- Familiarity with international maritime safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of LNG time charter party obligations.
IT and Communication Skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and operational databases.
- Strong written and spoken English, with technical report writing ability.
- Culturally aware with the ability to communicate across international teams.
