The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering technical expertise in the planning, design, and operational execution of completions in gas production wells, specifically those with ≥7" in diameter. The role supports both pre-job planning and ongoing operations, with a focus on tool design, deployment methods, QA/QC, and adherence to industry and internal standards. This position is pivotal in ensuring successful, safe, and cost-effective well completion services in line with project and client requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced technical support for the planning, design, and execution of large-diameter completion operations, including Packers, Safety Valves and service tools.
- Support deployment of completion equipment using slick-line, braided line, coiled tubing, and conventional work strings.
- Monitor daily operations, providing technical support and troubleshooting when required.
- Prepare full operational procedures for all Completions operations to be conducted.
- Conduct simulations and modeling (torque & drag analysis, hydraulics, tubing movement, etc)
- Serve as the focal point and primary technical interface between Company and Customer, ensuring that correct parameters, tool selection and installation procedures are being followed.
- Conduct equipment design reviews, support with pre-job planning and qualification of completions systems and components.
- Ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 9001, and ISO TS 29001 standards.
- Contribute to enhance the customer's operational efficiency, safety and service quality.
- Participate in risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for completions-related hazards.
- Assist with QA/QC inspections and ensure inspection tools and techniques meet required specifications.
- Remain on-call 24/7 to provide urgent technical support and guidance when operational needs arise.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to completions design, execution reports, and post-job reviews.
Skills
- Advanced technical knowledge of Production & Services Packers, Ball Valves, Safety Valves and associated service tools.
- In-depth understanding of large-diameter completion designs (≥7") for gas production wells.
- Skilled in deployment methods across various conveyance techniques (slick-line, coiled tubing, etc.).
- Proficient in design calculations (experience with WellPlan and WellCAT is considered an advantage).
- Proficient in planning, tracking actions and conducting meetings on equipment stock levels and operational updates to customer.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficient in risk assessment, hazard identification, and operational safety procedures.
- Familiarity with inspection techniques and QA/QC processes.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in liner hanger and completions operations, including at least 3 years in a technical support role focused on large-diameter gas wells.
- Qualified according to the employer's internal training and competency standards for this position.
- Proficient in the company's Quality Management System, ISO 9001, and ISO TS 29001.
- Degree in Engineering (preferred).
- Available to support operations 24/7 when required.
