Senior Project Engineer - Building & Infrastructure

The Opportunity
We are partnering with a major onshore energy development in Qatar to recruit a skilled Senior Project Engineer - Building & Infrastructure. This mega project involves the design, construction, and commissioning of a new gas processing facility and associated infrastructure-one of the largest and most technically demanding developments in the region.
This role is ideally suited to a seasoned engineering professional with proven experience delivering large-scale building and infrastructure packages in the oil & gas, water treatment, or industrial sectors. You'll manage design through to construction and handover-working in a multidisciplinary environment and coordinating closely with contractors, authorities, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management of assigned infrastructure packages, including buildings, civil works, and site facilities
- Oversee engineering, planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
- Develop and implement project execution strategies, schedules, and budgets
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local environmental regulations
- Manage technical interfaces and coordinate with end users, authorities, and contractors
- Support risk management activities and maintain the project risk register
- Drive contractor performance through effective stakeholder engagement and site supervision
- Lead resolution of contract variations, claims, and change management
- Review designs, coordinate procurement of long-lead items, and ensure readiness for commissioning
What We're Looking For
- BSc degree in Engineering from a recognised university; a higher qualification is an advantage
- 12+ years' experience in oil & gas or major infrastructure project execution
- At least 5-7 years of relevant experience on wastewater treatment or desalination plant projects
- Strong track record in managing buildings and infrastructure projects from design to delivery
- Excellent knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and HSE compliance
- Skilled in risk management, scheduling, contract handling, and project reporting
- Confident communicator with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Membership in a professional engineering or project management institution is a plus
