Job Title: Senior Engineer / Site Superintendent - Spherical Storage Tanks
Location: United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Contract Type: Permanent
Rotation: 3 months on / 2 weeks off
Package: Camp-based - food, transport, and accommodation provided
Overview:
A leading engineering and construction company is looking for a highly qualified and experienced professional to oversee the full lifecycle of spherical tank storage projects. This is a permanent role based in the UAE, focused on gas storage spheres, not conventional oil and gas tanks.
This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Engineer, Site Superintendent, or Welding Engineer with in-depth, hands-on experience delivering high-pressure spherical tank structures for LNG, gas, petrochemical, or industrial storage applications. You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of engineering, welding integrity, site safety, and construction execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the site execution, fabrication, and erection of spherical gas storage tanks
- Ensure compliance with international standards for pressure vessels and structural integrity
- Supervise welding and fabrication works with a strong emphasis on non-destructive testing (NDT) and critical joint inspections
- Coordinate across engineering, construction, QA/QC, and HSE teams to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Resolve technical issues related to the unique geometry and complexity of spherical tanks
- Act as a subject matter expert for welding procedures, metallurgy, and material compatibility
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives to align scope, timelines, and compliance
- Champion continuous improvement and lessons learned initiatives for spherical storage solutions
Requirements:
- Extensive experience with spherical gas storage tanks (not standard cylindrical O&G tanks)
- Strong background in site-based construction and welding inspection within the energy, gas, or petrochemical sectors
- Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging site environments
- Familiar with international codes relevant to pressure vessels and storage tank design (e.g. ASME, API, etc.)
- Expertise in NDT techniques and welding quality assurance
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred; relevant professional certifications are highly desirable
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
