KBR is seeking a Technical Professional - Test Engineer to support our RECO/DTRA contract for KBR's Science and Space division. We provide instrumentation test support for testing on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Energetics (CBRNE) experiments at Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and other US testing grounds.

Scope and Responsibilities:
  • Participates in CBRNE tests to include cable and gauge installation, data acquisition systems setup and support, timing and firing set-up and support, control center operations, network operations.
  • May oversee test support operations.
  • Writes test fielding plans.
  • Designs and develops test processes, and systems related to contract support requirements.
  • Designs and develops tests for systems related to contract support requirements. Writes test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications.
  • Gathers test data and evaluates the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meets customer specifications and performance expectations.
  • Develops test simulations to evaluate how products react under different conditions and analyzes product failure to assess the integrity and reliability of product performance.
  • Debugs test hardware and software. Analyzes test cases and scenarios and reports results. Collaborates with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance. Requires in-depth knowledge and experience.
  • Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records data, measures and records problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level; and analyzes data and prepares test reports.
  • Debugs, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and calibrates test hardware and software.
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Requires conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related discipline.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others. Has in-depth knowledge of DOD, Agency, and/or industry standards and engineering requirements.
  • Acts as a mentor or advisory resource for colleagues with less experience; may run projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad project guidelines and policies.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.
  • May have formal, but limited, supervision of team members to include verification of time cards, oversight of daily tasks/schedules and input into performance appraisals.
  • May be the primary customer contact for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade performance.
  • Uses existing or develops procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
  • Applies general knowledge of industry developed through education or past experience and begins acquiring disciplinary knowledge within the context of Defense Threat Reduction Agency standards and engineering requirements.

Skills and Abilities Sought:
  • Requires good computer skills
  • Knowledge concerning electronics and electronic systems for data acquisition
  • Soldering expertise and electronic construction
  • Electronic maintenance and calibration
  • Experience in the area of high explosive testing
  • Experience regarding Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, Radiological and Explosives (CBRNE) research, testing, and technology
  • Knowledge in one or more areas including transducers, timing and firing systems, data acquisition systems, computer networking, wireless transmission systems, optical systems, or seismic instrumentation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Special Requirements (Licenses, Clearances or Certifications): Must be able to attain SECRET security clearance.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education and Experience: BS degree in Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
