Overview:

An excellent opportunity for a senior mechanical engineer with deep expertise in rotating equipment to join a major offshore energy project. Based in Kuala Lumpur, this role places you at the technical forefront of high-spec offshore engineering - guiding complex equipment packages from concept through execution.

You'll oversee the design, selection, and delivery of critical rotating machinery, playing a key leadership role in both engineering execution and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and specification of mechanical rotating equipment, including gas turbines, process gas compressors, reciprocating compressors, screw compressor packages, and seawater injection pumps.
• Ensure all designs meet applicable international codes, classification society rules, and project-specific requirements.
• Develop and validate engineering specifications, requisitions, and technical standards in coordination with stakeholders.
• Evaluate supplier bids for technical compliance, with a focus on high-risk and complex equipment packages.
• Manage vendor engagement, reviewing drawings and data sheets to ensure technical accuracy and project alignment.
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, procurement, project management, and clients throughout project phases.
• Provide technical support during supplier inspections, fabrication, and on-site construction or commissioning activities.
• Resolve engineering issues using sound judgement, technical knowledge, and experience across the package lifecycle.
• Oversee team members' deliverables, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
• Comply with health, safety, security, environmental, and quality (HSSEQ) policies and uphold ethical business practices.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas sector.
• Significant experience working on large-scale EPC projects, preferably FPSO or offshore developments.
• Strong knowledge of design codes and standards including ASME, API, and related international guidelines.
• Proven leadership in technical and administrative management of engineering teams.
• Effective communicator and problem-solver with the ability to drive results independently and collaboratively.
