Position: Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer
Location: Mesaieed / Ras Laffan (Qatar)
Job Purpose
Provide expert technical support for maintenance and reliability of instrumentation and electrical systems in a process industry environment. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance to maintenance engineers, electricians, and instrument technicians on complex repairs and troubleshooting.

Support team cohesion and a collaborative work environment within the I&E Reliability Section.

Perform root cause analyses (RCA) on facility incidents and assist in follow-up actions.

Develop and maintain Instrumented Protective Systems (IPS) processes aligned with international standards (IEC61511 / ISA 84) and company regulations.

Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation such as single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, loop drawings, and instrument datasheets.

Manage technical inquiries and vendor evaluations, ensuring specifications meet design and budget requirements.

Participate as technical advisor in capital projects and turnaround activities.

Support Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new installations.

Drive consistency in I&E equipment design and maintenance strategies across the site.

Promote continuous improvement and interdepartmental collaboration for total quality.

Contribute to policy, process, and system improvements based on leading industry practices.

Prepare accurate reports to meet departmental standards and support budgeting activities.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations.

Support workforce development initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience

Education:
-
Electrical Discipline: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electrical Power Engineering (Master’s preferred).

Instrumentation Discipline: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering (Master’s preferred).

Experience:
-
5-7 years in Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls maintenance/support, preferably in process industries.

At least 4 years in a similar reliability engineer role.

Experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors preferred.

Technical Skills:
-
Strong knowledge of protection and control systems for high/medium voltage (132/33/6kV).

Proficient with failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and troubleshooting techniques.

Familiarity with IEC, IEEE standards, and software tools such as ETAP for load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies.

Knowledge of CMMS systems, preferably SAP.

English (proficient).

Arabic (working knowledge) is a plus.
