An Associate Engineer is responsible for, with working with Engineers and Sr. Engineers, to perform, or direct specific engineering assignments of varied complexity associated with the design, fabrication, and field construction of gas distribution and transmission regulator stations, transmission pipe installations, and Remote Operated Valve installations. Establishes specifications for contracts, creates estimates, reviews bids from contractors and transmission pipeline companies, and will make / approve design changes. Produce written procedures for all intrusive work on the gas transmission system. Provides technical expertise to other departments.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Designs pipe installations, regulating station installations and remote operating valve installations. Prepares cost estimates and design sketches as required for these designs, including the associated budgetary paperwork/appropriations. Tracks actual cost against estimates. Performs economic evaluations of various designs. May act as the project leader on those projects requiring support/involvement of multiple departments or organizations.
- Ensures all designs for new and reconstruction projects are in compliance with all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Oversees major projects during construction to insure satisfactory completion. Approves field designs and changes.
- Provides field support as needed.
- Responsible to produce written procedures for all intrusive work on the gas transmission system.
- Supports all planned and unplanned procedure work including coworkers procedures.
- Supports the System Emergency Gas Engineer on Call as scheduled.
- Supports the Corporate System Emergency Assignments.
- Responds to system emergencies and coordinates with Gas Control, Regional Operations, ad ERC personnel, to rectify and repair compromised elements.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
- Manage all documentation and ensure it is electronically stored in a data repository both for electronic and hard copy.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical and 2 years of full-time engineering work experience
- Knowledge of design, repair, and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution systems, pressure regulating stations and equipment, ROVs, and general system operation. Required
- Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations concerning pressure regulation equipment/designs. Required
- Driver's License Required
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions.
- Must be capable or working at elevations and within tunnels.
- Must successfully pass background check.
