The CFM56 ID&B Design team has ownership across the -2/-3/-5/-7 engine lines covering all Turbomachinery Modules owned by GE.

We are looking for an experienced engineer skilled and passionate on the Mechanical Design discipline.

The Design Engineer will work in Design projects and perform identified duties related to Turbomachinery hardware, assemblies, analysis and processes related to CFM56 Engine. This will be performed in a multi-functional team environment to meet assigned objectives related to safety, fleet stability and cost benefit. The role has autonomy, you will work to make decisions, apply concepts to solve engineering challenges, and resolve issues in critical tasks while supported by experienced engineers for those cases that are high challenging.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, product and program requirements.
  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers from adjacent hardware, repair, fleet, materials, stress analysis, heat transfer and engine system integration.
  • Uses judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated technical problems. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Complete documentation of technical data for the assigned projects.
  • Present work results during technical or program reviews
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or closely related field of Engineering
  • Knowledge of English language at communicative level
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical design & analysis, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Prior experience in mechanical design, or related field
  • Focus on learning and self-development


Desired Characteristics
  • MSc in Mechanical Design, Finite Element Analysis or Thermal Analysis.
  • Turbomachinery Design experience in Rotating Parts.
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible and responsive with deliverables.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.
