About the Role
A well-established engineering organisation is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support a high-profile energy project based in Malaysia. This position is vital in ensuring all supplier-related quality requirements are defined, monitored, and upheld across the supply chain lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, and inspection teams to maintain quality excellence from pre-award through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of contact for all supplier quality matters, reporting to the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer.

  • Conduct supplier pre-qualifications and perform in-process audits as required.

  • Lead Kick-Off Meetings (KOM) with suppliers, presenting project quality expectations and reviewing ITPs and testing procedures with relevant stakeholders.

  • Coordinate the review of WPS/WQT, weld maps, NDT procedures, PMI, and coating procedures with subject matter experts.

  • Collaborate with material engineers to resolve material-related queries from suppliers.

  • Prepare Work Assignment Sheets (WAS) and coordinate with contracts and third-party inspection (TPI) agencies for inspector engagement.

  • Manage inspection budgets and monitor any required adjustments in collaboration with contracts.

  • Review and approve TPI inspector CVs and qualifications. Provide project orientation, technical documentation, and remote support as required.

  • Track inspection progress through internal systems. Review inspection reports and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) as needed.

  • Lead or participate in readiness reviews and manage closure of inspection observations and outstanding actions.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in an engineering discipline.

  • 5–7 years of experience in supplier quality roles within the Oil & Gas, offshore, or FPSO sectors.

  • ISO Lead Auditor certification is essential.

  • Must hold valid CSWIP, AWS, or API certifications.

  • Additional qualifications such as NDE Level III/II, ATEX, or NACE Level II are highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.

  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate across departments.
