The Principal Manufacturing Engineer- Electrical Power will primarily support our GE Aerospace facility located Vandalia, OH along with Dayton, OH, and Loves Park, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role often involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and implementing lean manufacturing principles to enhance quality, efficiency and reduce costs.

Job Description
Role & Responsibilities
- Serve as a recognized technical expert in manufacturing/process engineering, producibility (Design For Manufacturing) factors, business processes, and provide guidance to program management, design, and supply chain organizations
- Remain cognizant of the state-of-the-art in your area of expertise
- Provide technical leadership in design/producibility reviews, manufacturing reviews, task forces, industrial committees, problem solving efforts, and design boards as necessary
- Work closely with other Controlled Title Holders (CTH) in area of expertise to integrate design and manufacturing engineering processes and initiatives
- Provide technical consultation to assigned organization and to other internal and supplier engineering and manufacturing organizations
- Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed, including key technology area strategy for manufacturing disciplines
- Provide leadership to help focus and integrate new technology smoothly into production
- Collaborate with multi-year product and technology strategy teams to ensure the necessary manufacturing & process capabilities are in place to support those strategies
- Production process support at sites for yield, cost, quality, and delivery
- Providing connectivity for site Mfg Eng teams to SME's across GE Aerospace for problem solving, mentorship, lessons learned through the Knowledge Share Community and other collaboration platforms and events
- Provide guidance on new equipment including writing specs, cost justification, vendor selection, and creating plans for installation, start up, and prove out
- Creating plans for process maturation of new manufacturing technologies.
- Provide subject matter expertise for NPI producibility and readiness reviews
- Engage with B&P, design and other upstream groups on next generation products to provide DFM insights and manufacturing lessons learned
- Attend industry trade shows and events to seek out latest technology and share finding back to technical teams in supply chain and engineering.
- Support the growth and development of the site level ME role through mentorship, training, and on-site project collaboration
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing role
- A minimum of 10 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
Additional Information
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
- Ability and willingness to site onsite at a GE facility 5 days per week
- Ability to travel 10-15% based on business needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Aviation/Aerospace industry
- Experience with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating system or similar lean methodologies
- Certifications in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt)
- Knowledge of electrical power systems used in aerospace applications
- Considered an expert in a Power Generation & Conversion manufacturing engineering discipline
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to lead teams through problem solving and/or root cause investigations
