Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Applications Engineer to manage, support, and optimise a complex portfolio of business-critical applications and systems. This role will be the key link between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring robust, reliable, and cost-effective digital solutions that support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for designated business units, managing application services and ensuring minimal unplanned downtime.

• Oversee a portfolio of approximately 60 applications, including 30 complex engineering solutions.

• Manage middleware systems, databases, application frameworks, and related infrastructure.

• Coordinate with multiple external vendors to maintain and enhance the application portfolio.

• Lead application-related technical projects from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with business strategy.

• Provide Level 3 technical support and expert advice to stakeholders and end users.

• Monitor application performance, availability, and usage, reporting on key metrics and trends.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation including service catalogues, SOPs, and technical designs.

• Advise business units on fit-for-purpose solutions, system improvements, and digital opportunities.

• Manage contracts, licenses, and budgets related to assigned applications.

• Ensure all solutions and activities adhere to company quality standards, best practices, and security requirements.

Requirements

• Engineering degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in IS/IT roles, including at least 10 years in application implementation and maintenance.

• Proven track record in application development, systems integration, databases, web, and cloud technologies.

• Experience supporting multiple corporate functions within a large organisation.

• Strong project management and organisational skills.

• Ability to work in a structured, process-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Flexible, adaptable, and pragmatic with strong problem-solving abilities.
