Position Description:
Seneca Resources is seeking a qualified Power Generation Engineer to support Dominion Energy's non-nuclear generation fleet. This hybrid role (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) focuses on the analysis, design, and maintenance of electrical systems, including both synchronous and inverter-based systems. Candidates will work in close coordination with capital project teams and plant operations, contributing to a reliable and clean energy future.

Position Description:
Seneca Resources is seeking a qualified Power Generation Engineer to support Dominion Energy's non-nuclear generation fleet. This hybrid role (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) focuses on the analysis, design, and maintenance of electrical systems, including both synchronous and inverter-based systems. Candidates will work in close coordination with capital project teams and plant operations, contributing to a reliable and clean energy future.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing electrical power systems studies (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, coordination).
- Supporting plant operations and capital projects with electrical system modeling.
- Conducting root cause analyses and developing technical solutions based on findings.
- Ensuring compliance with NERC standards (MOD, PRC, FAC).
- Calculating protective relay settings and preparing related documentation.
- Evaluating impacts of new/proposed generation and system modifications.
- Overseeing installation and commissioning of major electrical equipment.
- Performing generator unit uprate studies.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), meeting one of the following:
- ABET-accredited engineering degree
- Degree accredited under the Washington Accord
- Postgraduate degree in engineering with a qualifying undergrad degree
- Valid U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience Levels:
Engineer:
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering theories and practices
- Familiar with configuration management and project planning
Senior Engineer:
- 5+ years of experience
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and tools
- Proven leadership and project management skills
Staff Engineer:
- 8+ years of experience
- Recognized subject matter expert with strong technical leadership
- Deep understanding of engineering business and contractual matters
Additional Skills:
- Power systems modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar)
- Knowledge of protective relays and relay settings
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with NERC compliance preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Office Environment: 76-100%
- Field Work (heat, cold, noise, radiation, energized wires): Up to 25%
- Travel: Up to 25%
