Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer (Local National) to join its Iraq business unit focusing on developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Basra, Iraq on 5 days on/2 days off rotation.
This role is a full-time on-site role in Basra, Iraq with travel requirement.

Job Objectives:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and non-conformances.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and components.
- Ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance of equipment.
- Identify mechanical faults and root causes using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Recommend and implement solutions to recurring issues
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HSE standards and industry regulations.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Stay updated on relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Ensure that all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards at client site.
- Support the application of client Policy in relation to the Drug and Alcohol policy, Company Ethics, Award conditions, etc, whilst respecting and protecting the personal rights of subordinates.

Expected:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Material Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience specifically in Maintenance, preferably in oil & gas and petrochemical sector.
- Language English and Arabic Proficiency.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good awareness in Safety Operations, Risk Assessment, and Best Practice Engineering.
- Problem Solving
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; prepare clear and concise records, reports and other written materials.
- Continuous Improvement
- Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with third party contractors, business partners and local communities
