POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Quality Technician (Nuclear)
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
RELATIONSHIPS: Quality Engineers, Qualified Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Team Leads, Production Managers, RBSL, Buyer/Planners, Strategic Sourcing, any other internal departments as required, Suppliers, Customers
LOCATION: Elizabethtown, NC
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Inspector ensures that all incoming, in-process, and final inspections of parts, subassemblies, and finished nuclear safety-related products are performed in accordance with documented procedures, drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports product quality by verifying conformance, identifying non-conformances, and maintaining accurate inspection records. The Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring compliance with 10CFR50 Appendix B, industry standards, and Namco Controls' quality management system.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Inspector ensures that all incoming, in-process, and final inspections of parts, subassemblies, and finished nuclear safety-related products are performed in accordance with documented procedures, drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports product quality by verifying conformance, identifying non-conformances, and maintaining accurate inspection records. The Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring compliance with 10CFR50 Appendix B, industry standards, and Namco Controls' quality management system.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspections of nuclear parts, subassemblies, and materials, verifying compliance with purchase orders, drawings, and Dimensional Inspection Records (DIRs).
- Conduct in-process inspections of piece parts, subassemblies, and assemblies, recording results and identifying non-conformances.
- Execute final inspections of limit switches and parts kits to verify compliance with drawings, Assembly Inspection Records (AIRs), and customer requirements.
- Carry out specific tests such as plating adhesion, elongation, paint adhesion, and nickel-plating verification per DIR and ASTM/QQ standards.
- Witness and record functional and performance testing of assemblies, including leak tests, dielectric tests, insulation resistance, and mechanical operation checks.
- Verify Certificates of Compliance and supplier documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure proper identification, tagging, and segregation of accepted and rejected items in accordance with controlled procedures.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, including DIRs, AIRs, and inspection reports, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality system requirements.
- Identify and escalate suspect or counterfeit/fraudulent material per established controls.
- Support audits, process verifications, and customer inspection activities as required.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or related technical field.
- Familiarity with dimensional inspection methods, inspection tools, and test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans.
Desired Experience:
- Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industry.
- Knowledge of 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, or ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
- Exposure to Commercial Grade Dedication and counterfeit/fraudulent material controls.
- Proficiency with inspection documentation and recordkeeping systems.
