The Dry Rig/Wet Rig SW Design Engineer will be part of CA&M - Control Software organization.
In this role you will be responsible for design, development and documentation of National Instruments/Speedgoat based test equipment (Dry Rig - Wet Rig) for aviation related system and products.
In addition you will conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems, participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews and be part of a team with a full ownership of embedded software development.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

You will demonstrate accountability for analysis, design, development and maintenance of aviation related systems and products. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Develop software test cases, procedure and vectors based on High Level and Low Level Software Requirements.
  • Setting-up the verification & test environment applying the appropriate configuration.
  • Support the integration issues debugging and perform worst case analysis.
  • Manage validation status of change requests (CR) on the functions and sub-systems assigned.
  • Utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process.
  • Perform technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action for given problems.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Avio Aero associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals.
  • Document and to maintain software verification artefacts.
  • Support the software design reviews.
  • Programming and configuring National Instruments and MathWorks products as LabVIEW - Veristand - Speedgoat.
  • Ensure adherence to Avio Aero SW development process including support for internal and external process audits.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.


Qualifications/Requirements
  • Master's degree in Engineering or other STEM disciplines with experience in software design and development.
  • Previous experience in an equivalent engineering position.
  • 2+ years experience using National Instruments and MathWorks products (LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT, LabVIEW FPGA, Veristand, Speedgoat).
  • Experience using NI hardware (cDAQ, cRIO, PXI)
  • Good knowledge of relevant software engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers).
  • Good organization and problem-solving approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a strong team environment.
  • Clear thinking and diligent approach.
  • Passion for innovation and software innovation.
  • Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).
  • EU work permit.


Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with Database and Python software.
  • Experience with bus protocols as: ARINC-429, MIL-STD1553, CAN, RS422, RS232, SPI, I2C
  • Experience with Simulink Test to develop, manage, and execute simulation-based tests.
  • Strong focus on program execution and goals' achievements.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.
  • System mindset and problem solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems including overcoming obstacles.
  • Ability to document, develop, plan, and execute programs.
