About The Role
We're looking for a skilled and detailed-focused Welding Engineer with strong technical knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment. As Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for the application of high integrity welding techniques, driving quality assurance across welding operations and ensuring all client and projects requirements are met.

We have two main office locations: our head office based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde, and our impressive welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. You will be based at Westway Business Park, Renfrew, however arrangements for home working can be discussed at interview.

About The Role
We're looking for a skilled and detailed-focused Welding Engineer with strong technical knowledge and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment. As Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for the application of high integrity welding techniques, driving quality assurance across welding operations and ensuring all client and projects requirements are met.
Key responsibilities in this role:
- Ensuring full compliance with all relevant welding standards and procedures.
- Supporting day-to-day welding activities by providing expert guidance and technical assistance to the production team.
- Developing and maintaining Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Route Cards, welding parameters, work instructions, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Coordinating inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT)
- Leading the development, testing, and formal approval of Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs).
- Overseeing the preparation and distribution of welding documentation to production teams, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards throughout the production process.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Welding Engineer within a high-regulated industry (nuclear, defence, oil & gas etc.)
- Strong technical knowledge of welding procedures (manual and mechanised), across a range of applications.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand the meaning e.g. critical dimensions, weld identification, weld symbols
- Understanding of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and application.
- Experience in coordinating welding and inspection activities in a production environment (CSWIP 3.0/3.1/3.2 desirable).
- Knowledge of welding quality management i.e. ISO 3832-2
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage time and workload effectively.
- External certification in relevant technical or quality discipline (IWS/T/E desirable).
