For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

Red Bull Powertrains is offering an incredible opportunity for skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our ERS Production team as we head into our first-ever racing season with a Red Bull designed power unit. These roles will be a key part of the Team which is responsible to work on the mechanical design of tools for cell preparation, subsystem and battery cell testing along with MGU manufacturing and build.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in bringing innovative ideas to life, including:
  • Designing cutting-edge production equipment, bespoke jigs and precision tooling
  • Finalising, validating and releasing robust engineering drawings
  • Working closely with the Production Engineering Team Leader to define realistic project timelines and deliver on them
  • Ensuring every design meets the highest Design Office standards
  • Planning, organising and overseeing rig testing to prove out performance
  • Interpreting test data, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving enhancements
  • Presenting clear, structured reports that translate complex findings into actionable insights

To be successful in this Mechanical Engineer role, you will need:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience designing metallic components
  • Strong understanding of core mechanical design principles, including machining, fixings, sealing, fabrication and surface treatments
  • Ability to take designs from concept through to fully detailed drawings
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, ideally Siemens NX
  • Beneficial experience with lithium-ion batteries, cell testing or cell manufacturing equipment
  • Confidence working in cross-cultural environments and collaborating effectively within a team, while also operating independently when needed
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally

At Red Bull Powertrains, we believe that success isn't just about speed, it's about the team behind the victory. We trust, support, and challenge each other, always pushing for better. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves, knowing that the best results come when we enjoy the journey together. We offer a competitive salary, plus:

  • Bonus scheme
  • Private healthcare
  • A pension scheme
  • On-site gym
  • Free daily food allowance
  • And many more!

You will be joining a team that's as ambitious as it is supportive. If you want to be part of something special, apply now and help shape F1 history.
