HSE Supervisor - Germany

We are seeking an experienced HSE Supervisor to join the construction team for a major plastics recycling plant development in Wesseling, Germany. This role will ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance across all site activities, supporting safe construction, fabrication, and pre-commissioning phases. The successful candidate will lead by example, working closely with contractors, vendors, and project teams to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with local regulations and project HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE standards, procedures, and legal requirements across the project.
  • Support the project in achieving HSE targets and performance standards.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on HSE matters to contractors and site teams.
  • Promote and drive a positive safety culture in line with the project’s “Zero Harm” objectives.
  • Review and evaluate contractor HSE documentation, including JSAs, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks with project personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
  • Support the development and delivery of site safety training.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance and KPIs.
  • Assist in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Provide support for emergency response planning and execution.
  • Deputise for the HSE Lead when required.
Candidate Profile
  • Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (Germany).
  • Background in construction, petrochemical, or industrial projects in an HSE capacity.
  • Proven experience monitoring contractor performance and promoting safe working practices.
  • Right to work in Germany
  • Recognised audit training and strong understanding of HSE management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.
