Job Summary

As a Design/Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of interior engineering for Singer interior programmes, spanning multiple projects and variants. Reporting to the Head of Interior Engineering, you will collaborate across disciplines to resolve engineering challenges, manage external engineers, and ensure projects are delivered to meet our exacting standards-from concept through to production release.

In this fast-paced and challenging environment, you will need to be resilient and adaptable, capable of managing shifting priorities while maintaining focus under pressure. Your ability to balance multiple demands without compromising on quality or delivery will be essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and be accountable for the design, engineering, validation, and release of interior parts and systems to meet design specifications, styling intentions, and quality standards.
  • Provide ongoing launch issue management for other programmes on the platform that are live.
  • Co-ordinate interior engineering across multiple programmes, collaborating closely with the Platform Chief Engineers.
  • Manage issue resolution, driving solutions through engineering changes and into production.
  • Represent the department on project status within relevant forums (e.g., ETRS, Launch Readiness, Programme Reviews).
  • Engage directly with strategic engineering service suppliers-creating and maintaining statements of work, monitoring performance, and managing delivery.
  • Take full ownership of planning and project management activities relating to interior commodities to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Lead internal design reviews within the Interior team and across other functional groups.
  • Support both prototype and production launch build phases.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure successful delivery of vehicle project objectives.
  • Drive all standard engineering business processes involved in delivering production components, including:
  • BOM and investment cost tracking and management
  • RFQ and nomination processes (creation of concept sheets and preliminary data)
  • PPAP
  • Writing DVP requirements and supporting test execution.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all cross-functional discussions as required within your platform.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5.
  • Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Proven track record (6+ years) of delivering commodities within Interior Engineering; technical knowledge of composites and other interior panel constructions is advantageous. Other interior engineering disciplines will be considered.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels of the business, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and technical experience of working within a low-volume automotive environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project-management skills.
  • Ability to manage data and create KPIs.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunities for career development and progression
  • Supportive and inclusive work environment
  • Wellness and employee support

Benefits:

  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
  • Private medical insurance
  • On-site parking
  • Free refreshments
  • Company pension
  • Company events

We are committed to building a team that includes individuals from different cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, ages, sexual orientation, and physical abilities, reflecting the diversity of the communities where we work and live.
