Instrument & Controls Lead
Location: Qatar Onshore – NFW Offplot
Contract Type: MFA, 36 months
Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 5 days/week, 22 days/month
Estimated Start Date: 1st week of February 2026
We are supporting a leading LNG company in Qatar to recruit an Instrument & Controls (I&C) Lead for the NFW Offplot project. The role is responsible for leading I&C engineering activities for FEED and EPC phases, primarily focused on the Onshore Common Lean LPG Storage and Loading Expansion Project. The position ensures all I&C design requirements, specifications, codes, and standards comply with project.

Internal: Interfaces with PMT, RLIC, and Operations Engineering to resolve I&C issues

External: Regular contact with EPC Contractors, MICC, Vendors, Specialist Consultants, and project stakeholders including asset owners
Job Context & Major Challenges

Based in Doha QELNG office or Ras Laffan Project Site Offices (Field Operations Center)

Responsible for all technical I&C engineering activities executed by EPC contractors, MICC vendors, consultants, and sub-contractors

Challenges include guiding EPC contractors and pre-commissioning/commissioning teams to meet milestones, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and resolving complex I&C issues with execution and commercial impact
Key Accountabilities

Demonstrate SHES leadership and actively participate in toolbox talks, task instructions, and site safety walkthroughs

Ensure Contractors/Subcontractors conduct engineering design according to project requirements, specifications, and safe practices

Resolve I&C discipline issues to meet NFW Project objectives

Ensure approved design recommendations are applied to improve design integrity, efficiency, and safety

Verify adequacy of Contractor resources, personnel competency, and use of approved technical tools for both FEED and EPC phases

Provide I&C Engineering input to other disciplines and support commissioning/system completion, recommending solutions to management

Identify, track, and implement lessons learned, especially regarding existing plant sections

Monitor timely issuance of documents listed in the Master Document Register for all deliverables from FEED and EPC Contractors
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Instrument, Automation, or Electronic Engineering
Experience & Knowledge
-
8 years’ experience in engineering roles, including 4 years in Oil & Gas and 1 year in a supervisory/acting role or oversight of contractors/subcontractors/vendor personnel

Strong knowledge of international engineering standards, specifications, and design practices

Experience managing control system contractors and third-party vendors across multiple project phases, ideally from FEED to Start-up

Broad I&C equipment and control systems experience, familiar with relevant manufacturing processes

Brownfield engineering and execution knowledge

Experience with berth control systems for LNG and hydrocarbon liquid product loading/unloading
Technical & Business Skills

Fluent in written and spoken English

Strong analytical, organisational, coordination, and planning skills

Good communication and ability to interface at all levels

Conflict resolution, problem-solving, creative thinking, influencing, and empathy skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
