Salary:
Up to £40,324 per annum, depending on experience (plus £3000 market premium payment for candidates with identified experience, detailed below) (pay award pending)
Hours: 35 per week

The Exciting Role
A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to join our team of experienced industry professionals. As Engineering has been identified as a key strategic priority for the College Group, we are committed to supporting growth and investment in this area.

Key to this is looking to strengthen our existing team and ensure we have the capacity for growth. On this basis, we are keen to hear from applicants who have experience in any of the below specialisms:
  • Experience with T-Level delivery
  • Hand Fitting
  • Machining (Milling & Turning)
  • CNC Machining (Milling & Turning)

The role will be primarily based at our Nelson and Colne College site but there may be a requirement to travel across sites.

This post could suit an experienced practitioner looking for their next challenge, a newly qualified teacher looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation, or a talented aspiring trainee teacher looking for support with their teaching qualification.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Teaching on a range of programmes, delivering effective learning for students in the Engineering department
  • Planning and preparing high quality teaching and learning
  • Developing and sharing resources for the course/subject
  • Completing required assessments in relation to student assignments

What We Are Looking For:
  • An enthusiastic team player
  • Recognised teaching qualification or a willingness to undertake this
  • Strong industry experience would be an advantage and could be considered in place of a degree level qualification for the right candidate.
  • Successful teaching experience (ideally on Pearson BTEC) with a background in delivery of Level 3 RQF subjects would be advantageous.
  • Degree level qualification or appropriate professional qualification (or equivalent level of experience)

For the Market Premium payment as detailed above, we are looking for:
  • A successfully completed Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Possess recent industry experience within the engineering or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated T Level delivery experience of more than two consecutive years, covering both:
    • Core component delivery, and
    • Occupational Specialism (OS) delivery.
