Contracts Lead – Offshore / Onshore Projects
Location: Qatar (Onshore 90%, Offshore 10%)
Employment Type: 3-Year Secondment / Fixed-Term Contract
A leading energy company is seeking a Contracts Lead to manage the full lifecycle of major EPC, FEED, and Long Lead Item (LLI) contracts for offshore and onshore projects. This role offers exposure to high-value projects and the opportunity to provide strategic guidance on contracting, post-award administration, and risk management.
Role Overview
The Contracts Lead will oversee contract strategy, preparation, award, and administration, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and regulations. The role will manage post-award activities including change orders, claims, insurance, guarantees, and liaising with contractors and internal teams to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Develop contracting scenarios and support contract strategy workshops

Lead preparation of FEED, EPC, and LLI contracts in coordination with Legal and Supply teams

Advise on technical bid evaluation plans, procedures, and models

Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with contract terms

Manage post-award contract administration including formal correspondence, change orders, claims, insurance, and guarantees

Provide guidance to the project management team on major change orders and negotiations

Resolve contractor claims and coordinate legal issues with internal teams

Manage transfer of LLI contracts through novation or free issue to EPC contractors

Monitor potential breaches of contracts and advise appropriately

Review and recommend improvements to contracts for future projects
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Law, or related field

Minimum 8 years’ experience in contract management for EPC contracts, including at least 4 years in the oil & gas sector

At least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role managing contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service personnel

Experience in contract formulation, post-award administration, and project business functions such as planning, cost control, risk management, change management, and reporting

Knowledge of international standards, methodologies, and best practices in contract management

SME-level competence in contracts, procurement, and project delivery processes

Strong risk assessment and decision-making skills
