Operational Safety Leader (OSL)

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Operational Safety Leader (OSL) to support a major fast-track deepwater development project. This role is a key position within the Drilling & Wells (D&W) Performance and Methods team, providing HSSE leadership across onshore bases, offshore rigs, and contractor operations.
Working in a newly developing oil & gas region with a multicultural environment, the OSL will champion high-performance safety culture, ensure compliance with corporate standards, and drive continuous improvement in HSSE processes.
Key Responsibilities HSE Leadership & Compliance

• Demonstrate strong HSSE leadership, embedding high standards across all operations.
• Ensure full implementation of company principles, HSSE Golden Rules, referentials, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Act as the focal point for all HSSE matters within the D&W discipline.

Operational Safety Oversight

• Support HSSE requirements onshore at contractor bases and offshore across two deepwater rigs.
• Assist rig supervisory teams in understanding and executing MEDEVAC/MEDERESCUE, Blowout Contingency Plans (BOCP), and Oil Spill Contingency Plans (OSCP).
• Lead SIMOPS dossier development, bridging documents, and cross-entity coordination with D&W and Field Operations.
• Oversee D&W personnel HSSE training compliance via digital systems.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Develop and track annual HSSE KPIs (near misses, TRIR, LTIF, audits, perfect days, etc.).
• Lead HSSE campaigns, safety alerts, dashboards, and Roadmaps.
• Manage incident reporting, case management and REX using digital platforms (e.g., Polarion, Synergi).
• Produce monthly rig HSE performance reports and dashboards.

Auditing, Risk Management & Contractor Interface

• Conduct risk assessments for well operations and facilitate cause-tree analyses.
• Support service quality meetings, well program HSSE inputs, and contractor engagement.
• Execute annual HSEQ-MS audits for rigs and service contractors both onshore and offshore.
• Work closely with logistics to ensure marine, lifting and transport activities meet HSSE expectations.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

• Coordinate site committee meetings and undertake regular visits to operational sites.
• Liaise with contractor management to ensure safe and compliant operations.
• Maintain strong relationships across a multicultural project environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 15 years’ experience in upstream oil & gas.
• 6–10 years’ experience in a similar HSSE leadership role, ideally in drilling and wells operations.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus HSSE certification.
• Strong digital competence: MS Office, Power BI, Polarion, Synergi or similar.
• English required; French or additional languages are an advantage.
• Must hold an Offshore Medical Certificate and BOSIET CA-EBS HUET.
