Job Description:

What's the role

The Operations Engineer role is part of the Midstream operation/production support organisation.

The role will support the Midstream organisation in safe operation and optimisation of LNG facility, all field assets and equipment. The role involves supporting the Production Support Manager/shift teams for short-term delivery of operational outcomes against the business plan.

What you'll be doing

The Operations Engineer role responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee and support process control changes, implementations within Midstream facility. (e.g. APC, controller tuning, etc.)
  • Implement Ensure Safe Production (ESP) processes and workflows to ensure safe production standards.
  • Assist in assurance reviews of daily tasks by Production shift teams per ESP practices.
  • Support Operations Specialists in managing ESP deferment elements with continuous improvement focus.
  • Help manage Asset Integrity and Process Safety for QGC Midstream Operations, maintaining process safety fundamentals.
  • Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) across its lifecycle, acting as focal point and Responsible Job Person when assigned.
  • Serve as focal point for Proactive Technical Monitoring actions and implementation.
  • Coordinate Alarm Management activities, including meetings and follow-up actions.
  • Optimise operating variables daily with shift teams and engineering to maximise plant efficiency.
  • Lead flare reduction initiatives and review operational GHG reduction opportunities monthly.
  • Capture operational tasks into procedures, support HSSE incident investigations, risk assessments, Software Change Requests (SCRs), and process control changes.


What you bring
To succeed in this role, you will need:

Process or Chemical engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience, with post-graduation experience in either LNG, gas processing, refining or chemicals industries.

Skills and Requirements

  • Knowledge level in process/chemical engineering systems to support the Production Support Manager in the MOC process to prioritise and direct the engineering change process for HSSE and/or production gains.
  • Experience in providing support for process control changes and implementation, including advanced process control (APC) strategies, controller tuning, and related activities.
  • Ability to define issues, collect data, draw initial conclusions, and support development and implementation of gap closure plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all organisational levels and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven organisational and task management abilities, delivering high-quality outputs and meeting KPI-driven monthly requirements aligned with business plans.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and experience applying them to enhance processes and performance.
  • Knowledge level in Permit to Work systems including implementation of new policies and procedures would be advantageous.
